The Make and Take Tent gives visitors to the Food Festival an opportunity to learn a new skill from an ‘expert’.  8 lucky people will have a chance to have a go themselves.

10.30 – How to successfully make and cook fresh pasta and ravioli with Simon Mazzei from the Olive Tree – £5 (inc. taking home what you’ve prepared)

11.30 – Cake decorating techniques – learn how to make icing decorations from a real expert, Heather Upham from Fancy That Cakes, Beaminster– £5 (inc. taking home what you’ve made)

12.30 –   Find out more from Southern Roots Organic – Dorset’s first Community Supported Agriculture scheme.  Last year Southern Roots Organics set up Dorset’s first Community Supported Agriculture scheme. They supply local people with fresh, organic veg on a subscription based system that is designed to connect growers and customers. Come to this workshop to hear about the developments in the market garden, taste some of their fresh produce and learn more about Community Supported Agriculture.  FREE event

13.30 – Explore the art of barbecuing vegetables  – what vegetables to use, how to cook them and how to dress them to maximise flavour? with Chris Kemme from Bridget’s Market, Bridport – £5 (inc. taking home a selection of vegetables to BBQ)

14.30 –  ‘Crack a Crab’ – Learn how to dress a fresh crab with Sally from Sally’s Fish Camp  – £10 (inc. taking home your dressed crab)

15.30 – BBQ Chicken ideas – Learn how to spatchcock a chicken and use spice rubs from Dorset Spice Shed to create tasty dishes for your summer BBQ with Phil Frampton and his team Framptons Butchers, Bridport – £5 (inc. taking home what you’ve prepared)
