Bridport Local Food Group Bursary Awards 2016

The Bridport Local Food Group is pleased to announce that they have awarded two Bursary Awards this year to the following new food producers.

(V)eggielicious,   Bridport

Run by Jan Farnan and Frances West, (V)eggielicious, is a  brand new food business based in Bridport selling vegetarian food.  Their range includes salads, savouries, dips and sweet treats including some vegan, gluten free and dairy free choices.

Solkiki Craft Chocolatemaker , Thornford DT9 6QH

The business is run by partners  Bob and Iris.  They had been practising making chocolate from bean-to-bar since 2008 as a hobby before setting up their business in December 2015. They buy the world’s rarest beans directly from farmers and use these raw ingredients to create a range of bars. Unroasted, roasted, dark, milk, white and  it is all dairy free and vegan too.

Both receive a free trade stand in this year’s Food Producers Marquee at the Bridport Food Festival main event on Saturday 18 June.    They will be joining seventy of the best food and drink producers across the area.

One of the main aims of the Bridport Local Food Group is to raise the awareness of the wonderful range and quality of food and drink grown or produced in our local area..  Our bursary is in place to encourage and help new food or drink business, whether as a retailer or food outlet, by giving them for free a platform at the Festival for promoting and selling what they do.

Both of these businesses have only been operating for a short period but have sound business plans for their future growth. Their products sound delicious please take the opportunity to visit them in the Producers marquee at this year’s Festival
