The edible garden is pleased to be asked to run a stall, this year, in the Grow Your Own section of the Bridport Food Festival. This is being held at Askers Meadows on Saturday 18th June. Children from the school’s gardening club will be demonstrating how to make your own planter or hanging basket, so that anyone can grow their own. With the support of HOME in Bridport, our garden has become very productive. There are several aims in this project – to educate, to provide a fun social space and to produce fresh vegetable and fruit for the school of kitchen.
The school has recently been awarded a green flag from Eco-schools. Karyn Fullerton, the assessor, said of the pupils “They are all very enthusiastic and very involved. I have to commend the work of the cooks to promote healthy eating, and the gardening club and helpers to grow, cook and eat the food, and then compost left overs.
Come and meet the team at the festival.
