The workshop ‘Words on a Plate’ takes place at Grey Cottage, Askerwell DT2 9EL on Sunday 7th June starting at 10am and finishing at 4pm. It is being led by writer, radio producer, composer and teacher, Paul Dodgson, who writes:
“Food is at the very heart of our lives: we need it to survive, there are countless rituals around its preparation and consumption, and food is one of our greatest pleasures.
We have rich seams of memory associated with our experience of food, and tapping into these opens up our recollection of the past and turns it into something tangible to write about with all the sensory resources that language has to offer.
During this workshop you will hear extracts of food writing as described by a variety of leading writers and you will participate in exercises that will ask you to translate the taste, texture and rituals of food into the written word.
And you will be served sensual delights too: morning and afternoon refreshments and lunch created with local ingredients.
So whatever you write, whether fiction or non-fiction, whether a first time or experienced writer, come and enjoy this of day talking, tasting and writing about food, deep in the Dorset countryside”.
